Why Animal Rescue?
Dogs and Cats are here and part of our lives because of one thing, we have bred them to be just that, Part of our Lives.
They are born into a world where their purpose is to be companion animals, where they and their owners exist with each other. However far too many times they are born into a cruel world, unwanted, unloved and ignored only to end up sick and dying or slated for euthanasia in a high kill shelter because there are simply not enough caring homes for them and as a society this is the “best” we can do.
This casual cruelty to innocents is appalling on so many levels.
This is where animal rescue comes in. Pulling adoptable animals from these shelters and rescuing unwanted animals nationwide is a mission for organizations small and large.
I originally came to DAWS because I thought it would be fun to walk dogs and get exercise. It was, and then it became more, it was working with dogs week after week helping them become better and better at being dogs. I can go on at great length with success stories, the satisfaction of watching these dogs you’ve loved moving on to happy lives in their “furever” homes, ultimately at the end of the day, it’s a great way to make a small difference in a crazy world.
